A Year at Yarram Park
We enter the new year after a wonderful 18 months of strong cattle prices and excellent seasonal conditions in southern Australia.
It is rewarding to see producers enjoying such a positive time in agriculture after some very challenging years with both seasons and commodity pricing.
We will again be marketing our sale team in a similar video auction format as we have done over the past 2 years.
Despite the appalling conditions with drought, flood, and fires in northern Australia, large areas of NSW, and east Gippsland, for us in Western Victoria and the South East of South Australia we have been so fortunate to finish the last 6 months of 2019 with excellent spring conditions, and a soft finish to the year. Looking forward, few could argue the optimism for beef in the coming years with the demand for protein increasing significantly, and the huge reduction in breeding numbers which is going to have a massive impact on demand for cattle when the season does break to our north. As a consequence, all of us in southern Australia are in a very strong position if we can get our breeders joined up well.
We are very pleased with the young draft of sale bulls we have on offer for you this marketing season, and are confident they can have a very positive impact on your future genetic program and breeding operation.
Our specially selected sale bulls will again present in strong paddock working order. They are a powerful and very well balanced line up of older proven genetics, and a blend of our more recent bloodlines introduced over the last few year’s. We are excited to offer the first progeny by a number of new sires including Yarram Lottery M089, Morgan vale Larkin, and Churchill Kickstart, both Poll genetics.
The complete draft of sale bulls can be viewed by video on you tube, or at yarrampark.com linked to our web page with full breed plan details available.
The annual run of weaner sales held last January through the Western District of Victoria were again very strong, and well supported by backgrounders, processors, and producers. With very good weight again in calves, combined with strong prices per kg, the sales produced excellent returns for the breeders. Yarram Park bloodlines featured strongly over the 2 week marketing period with considerable demand for calves, particularly the heifer lines adding to future breeding operations. Yarram Park calves went into programs in Victoria, South Australia and NSW.
Demand for Yarram Park bloodlines through semen sales has also been very strong, with sales to all eastern states of Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, and Sweden.
The team at Yarram Park would like to wish their clients every success as we enter the new selling season and annual run of weaner sales, and congratulate them on their careful and well managed breeding operations.
The Yarram Park sale team will again feature in the 2020 Stock and Land Beef week on Monday the 3rd of February, where we welcome you all to attend on the day, or by prior appointment.
We look forward to seeing you at Yarram Park to inspect this year’s draft of sale bulls, our specially selected sires, and a selection of the stud’s young future breeders.
Our annual bull sale will be held on Monday the 10th of February 2020, commencing at 11am ESDT, with inspection from 9am.
We wish you all the very best for the new season ahead, and look forward to seeing at our sale.
