A Year at Yarram Park
We enter the new year after a wonderful 18 months of strong cattle prices and excellent seasonal conditions in southern Australia.
It is rewarding to see producers enjoying such a positive time in agriculture after some very challenging years with both seasons and commodity pricing.
Following on from our very successful 2017 Bull Sale we again plan to market our sale team in a similar video auction format, with a few improvements. We would like to acknowledge the tremendous support from clients with the seamless transition from our previous private selling, to the new system of marketing our young sires in our bull complex.
We are very pleased with our young draft of bulls available for you this marketing season, and are confident they can have a very positive impact on your breeding program going forward.
Our specially selected sale bulls will again present in strong paddock working order, and reflect an excellent period of pasture growth and seasonal conditions. They are a powerful and very well balanced line up of older proven genetics, and a blend of more recent bloodlines introduced over the last few years. There will also be another good selection of Poll genetics for your consideration.
Yarram Unique F181 continues his considerable impact on the Hereford breed, with the Hann family from Truro Herefords selling F181 onto the Sykes family and Mawarra Herefords. We are confident he will have a very positive impact on another wonderful Hereford stud, and further add to the Hereford genetic base.
The annual run of weaner sales held last January through the Western District of Victoria were perhaps the strongest I have ever seen over the last 20 years. With both incredible weights and prices per kilo it combined to produce very rewarding returns for producers. Yarram Park bloodlines featured strongly over the 2 week marketing period with strong demand for calves, particularly heifer lines to add to future breeding programs. Yarram Park calves went into programs in Victoria, South Australia and NSW.
Specially selected Yarram Park sires continue to perform strongly in the Australian Progeny Test Project. Leading all sires entered in the project for Gestation length and low birth weight were the Yarram sires X122 and F181, while Yarram F181 also ranked 3rd in the country on tested sires for IMF% and EMA, and Yarram Lottery E025 was 4th in a strong field for carcase EMA and 3rd overall for Gestation length.
The team at Yarram Park would like to wish their clients every success as we enter the new selling season, and congratulate them on their careful and well managed breeding operations.
We look forward to seeing you at Yarram Park to inspect this year’s draft of sale bulls, our feature sires, and a selection of the stud herd.
The Yarram Park sale team will again feature in the 2018 Stock and Land Beef week on Friday the 2nd of February, where we welcome you all to attend on the day, or by prior appointment.
We wish you all the very best for the new season ahead, and the forth coming weaner sales.
